The Chandigarh Defence Academy has been continuously finding extensive coverage of its
various achievements, events and activities on National TV. As the Chandigarh Defence
Academy has carved a distinctive place in country in general and North India in particular,
for having become one of the few top institutions imparting coaching and training to the
candidates of various Defence services exams and competitions, the National TV and
media channels arrange due coverage of the CDA quite frequently.
The students’ celebrations to felicitate the winning team of hockey in Tokyo Olympics, and
the special decoration of the hostel with the display of 21 hockey sticks were prominently
covered in news of the national TV as well as the print media.
The celebrations of Republic Day by cadets of Chandigarh Defence Academy in the
presence of high-ranking retired Defence Officers- Wg.Cdr. Iqbal Singh Chahal, Col.
Urvinder Singh, Capt. K.K. Malhotra, Capt. Pawan and Subedar Hoshiar Singh also found
prominent coverage in the national TV channels.
The commemoration of Kargil Victory Day was another important event covered by the
national TV in which the valiant martyrs were remembered, and the Chandigarh Defence
Academy students sung victory songs to pay tributes to the war heroes.
The national TV also highlighted the condolence event organised by the Chandigarh
Defence Academy to pay homage and tribute to General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence
Staff, who tragically lost his life along with his wife and other Defence officers in a
helicopter crash in December 2021. The Chandigarh Defence Academy cadets paid floral
tributes to the departed defence leader and saluted before the garlanded portrait of Gen.
Rawat. His distinguished service to the nation was also recalled by the students and
faculty of the Chandigarh Defence Academy.
The TV also covered occasions when the Chandigarh Defence Academy felicitated the
cadets who made it to NDA after cracking the exam, as every year so many students of the
academy get selected for the NDA.
The Chandigarh Defence Academy (CDA) launched the Vision–22 with a view to
associating the youth of Punjab with the defence services of India in a large number
through the medium of NDA.
The Vision-22 was launched in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Mr.
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, special guest on the occasion, at the Chandigarh Press Club.
Mr Randhawa lauded the launch of this initiative by the Chandigarh Defence Academy and
assured the CDA of full co-operation and support so that Punjab could be able to restore its
prestigious place in the armed forces once again for the defence of India. Mr Randhawa
announced the grant of Rs 5 lakh for the academy for the promotion of the patriotic
mission for the cause of nation. Under the Vision-22, a vigorous campaign would be
launched to connect the Punjab youth with the defence services once again as the youth of
today is craving more for going abroad to find a livelihood there. This trend of youth leaving
India in large numbers has marginalised the percentage of Punjab candidates joining the
defence services.
In view of this, a compaign named “Videshan Noon Nahin………Desh Nu Challo” has been
launched by the Chandigarh Defence Academy. Under this campaign, scholarships worth
Rs 1 lakh 80 thousands will be provided to the wards/children of the martyrs, the
prospective children studying in the orphanages, the students of the families living below
poverty line who are good at studies, and the children of single mothers. These
scholarships will be in the form of tuition fee waiver to be granted by the CDA. Besides, the
wards/children of the retired jawans and officers of the armed forces, and the students of
Punjab who have scored over 80% marks in the 10th class would also be provided
scholarships worth about Rs 90,000 in the form of tuition fee waiver. The Chandigarh
Defence Academy strives to once again secure the same status of Punjab in the Defence
services that used to be witnessed some years before. The CDA is set to launch a vigorous
campaign throughout Punjab to exhort the youth not to waste their talent by going abroad
but pursue NDA which not only promises them a bright career to become a defence officer
but a rare opportunity to be a part of glorious history of defence forces and serve the
motherland.
The Chandigarh Defence Academy (CDA) celebrated the Republic Day with its students and
faculty members, arranging a series of variety programmes and activities to depict
nationalism, unity and diversity of India.
To mark the celebrations, students of CDA also distributed National Flags to general public,
shoppers and businessmen in sector 36 and 69.
A glittering programme was organised at the CDA hostel, “Eak Sham Desh Bhakti Ke Naam”
in which students donning saffron headgear rendered choicest patriotic songs and the
compositions by them beautifully. Their presentation was highly applauded and
appreciated by the audience.
Top ranking-ranking former defence officers including Wg. Cdr. Iqbal Singh Chahal, Captain
K.K Malhotra, Col. Urvinder Singh, Captain Pawan and Subedar Hoshiar Singh were present
among the audience who highly applauded and encouraged the students for having
presented exceptionally.
