The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the premier joint training institution of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force receive academic and military training before they are commissioned as officers. The academy is located in Khadakwasla, Pune.
The NDA provides a rigorous and comprehensive three-year training program that encompasses academic education, physical conditioning, and leadership development. Upon successful completion, cadets proceed to their respective service academies for an additional one year of specialized training.

For the Army Wing, candidates from any stream are eligible.

The NDA examination is open to students from all streams. However, students from the Non-Medical stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) are eligible for all three wings of the Armed Forces—Army, Navy, and Air Force. Students from Commerce, Arts, or Medical streams are eligible only for the Army Wing.
